Our flea market is every Wednesday from daylight ’til noon (400+ vendors and 6000-8000 customers). The miscellaneous auction is from 11 am- 1 pm, and the livestock auction begins at 1 pm.
Russell White originally started the auction business in 1922, specializing in agricultural tools and agricultural real estate. In 1927, he began the weekly livestock auction in Brookville.
His son, Stanley White, joined him in 1937, expanding the business to selling residential real estate and personal property estates. They also expanded with two additional livestock auctions in Walton, Kentucky and Rushville, Indiana.
After his death in 1959, the company sold the Kentucky and Rushville livestock auctions, continued with the Wednesday livestock auction in Brookville, and concentrated on real estate, antique, and personal property auctions.
In 1968, Dave White (the third generation) entered the business, and after graduating from the University of Kentucky married Franklin County native Paula Applegate. They continued the Wednesday livestock sale, added a miscellaneous auction, and began what has turned into a huge flea market on Wednesday morning.
In 1986, they relocated to a 260 acre farm 3 miles south of Brookville on Holland Road, just off of US 52.
