The Brookville / Whitewater Complex has over 13,500 combined acres of land. In addition to the land, each property has a lake-Brookville Lake is approx 5260 acres and Whitewater Lake is approx 200 acres.

There are many recreational opportunities available on the combined properties including camping, fishing, hunting, boating, hiking and swimming. Near to the park are Metamora Historic Site, 10 miles, and Kings Island Amusement Park, 65 miles.

The lake property has more than 25 miles of hiking trails, boating opportunities, and nationally known recreational and sport fishing. Two beaches and more than 400 campsites make this an ideal family vacation spot.

The area was purchased by the federal government for flood control and to provide a place for wildlife and recreation. Brookville is one of the few sites in Indiana where walleye grow big enough for fisheries biologists to milk the females for eggs to supply walleye fry to many lakes in Indiana.
